Collet Adapter
This collet adapter is a quick and inexpensive way to make a 1/4" collet work with 1/8" shank bits. It works great on the DeWalt 611 that comes with the X-Carve, or on a variety of other routers. It prevents you from having to buy a new collet and collet nut. Simply slide it into your current 1/4" collet and tighten as usual.
If you are looking for a highly accurate, precision-grade way to use 1/8" bits with your DeWalt 611, you will need to purchase our 1/8 in Precision Collet Kit instead; it’s available in the X-Carve configurator. It has a total indicated runout (TIR) < 0.0004". The adapter on this page is for general purpose cutting; its TIR hasn’t been measured, and it’s not intended for precision-grade work.
PLEASE NOTE – The collet, nut, and bit shown in the 2nd and 3rd pictures are not included with the adapter. The collet and nut should come with your spindle/router.
